What is IATF 16949:2016?
Developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), the standard is not certified on its own: it is applied together with ISO 9001:2026 and requires you to demonstrate that your design, production and service processes are capable, stable and statistically controlled.
For most vehicle manufacturers (OEMs), holding the certification — or meeting their specific requirements — is a condition for being a direct supplier or a tier 2 or 3 supplier.
